

Volunteers needed to serve on the 2023 NSDDS Board of Directors! Respond by Monday, June 13.
NSDDS is looking for members interested in serving on the Board of Directors to run for vacating director-at-large positions. To be eligible, you must be an NSDDS Fellow (board certified in dermatology or dermatopathology) in good standing.
Involvement on the Board is great experience and gives you the opportunity to make a difference for the dermatologists and their patients in the state of Nevada. If you would like to be considered for the Board, please submit a brief bio no more than 200 words and a high-resolution head shot to Kathy Duerdoth. Whitney Hovenic, MD, MPH
Immediate Past President and Secretary
Whitney Hovenic, MD, MPH, is a Mohs surgeon in Reno at the Skin Cancer and Dermatology Institute. Dr. Hovenic was the catalyst for the creation of NSDDS. She found a handful of other Nevada dermatologists who wanted to come together to share knowledge and support patient safety in their state. She lives in Reno with her husband and two daughters. They love skiing and hiking in Tahoe and traveling internationally.

Douglas Fife, MD
President
Douglas Fife, MD, is the founder of Vivida Dermatology (formerly Surgical Dermatology & Laser Center), a full-service dermatology practice dedicated to exceptional care of patients. He is a fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon who is passionate about Mohs, reconstruction, acne scar therapy and laser medicine. With fellow Las Vegas dermatologists Drs. Candace Spann and Rob Lieberman, he started a Dermatology Journal Club in 2010, which meets monthly and has helped unify the southern Nevada dermatology community. Vivida has 17 outstanding providers and four locations in Nevada and Southern Utah. Dr. Fife loves spending time with his three children, surfing, snowboarding, fishing, golfing and mountain biking.

Jennifer DePry, DO
Vice President
Jennifer DePry, DO, is a board certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. She has a strong clinical and research interest in skin cancer, particularly among immunosuppressed patients. Providing exceptional care to patients, contributing to dermatology research efforts and serving as a guest editor for medical journals are some of the most rewarding aspects of her career. She is a certified yoga instructor and also enjoys outdoor sports, exploring new cities and cooking with her husband and son.

Victoria Guerra Farley, MD
Director
Victoria Guerra Farley, MD, FAAD is a board certified dermatologist who has been practicing at Vivida Dermatology for the last five year. Dr. Farley always knew she wanted to go into medicine and when she was 12 decided to go into dermatology after seeing what her uncle and close friend had to go through dealing with vitiligo and cystic acne, respectively. She has been in Las Vegas for over 10 years practicing general medical dermatology. She gives back to the community by regularly volunteering at Volunteers in Medicine at Southern Nevada, where she sees patients monthly with no insurance. She has also worked in the community by being on the community faculty at both the UNLV School of Medicine and Touro Medical School and regularly have medical students that rotate and try to teach as much as possible.

Miriam Bettencourt, MD
Director
Miriam S Bettencourt, MD is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Nevada and Adjunct Professor at Touro University. She is a MOHS surgeon also practicing Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology. She started her medical career in Brazil and attended a residency of Internal Medicine and Dermatology at University of São Paulo, followed by a residency of Family Medicine and Dermatology at Duke University. Subsequently, she joined the University of South Florida as Assistant Clinical Professor and Associate Residency Program Director, Head of the Clinical Trials Division and Chief of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. She has been practicing in Las Vegas since 2002. She is the Founder and Director of the Women Physicians Medical Society in Las Vegas and has participated in several committees of the AAD and Women’s Derm Society. Dr Bettencourt has been the Investigator of multiple Clinical trials and she is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker. She is faculty of the Las Vegas Derm Seminar as the Moderator for the Best Cases of Las Vegas session. She was selected by the AAD to participate in Leadership Forums and represent the state of Nevada at past Legislative Conferences. She is a true believer of balance in life, enjoying the outdoors, cooking, staying fit and traveling with her husband.

Jonathan Staidle, MD
Director
Jonathan Staidle, MD, is a board certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon who works in Sparks and Reno for the Skin Cancer and Dermatology Institute. With a rich history of serving as a medical volunteer, teaching assistant and tutor, Dr. Staidle is as passionate about educating people as he is about helping to heal them. Dr. Staidle is an outdoor enthusiast and adrenaline junkie who enjoys international travel, hiking, camping and snowboarding.

Irene Mannering, MD
Treasurer
Irene Mannering, MD, is a board certified dermatologist that practices medical dermatology in Sparks and Reno at the Skin Cancer and Dermatology Institute. She is also an active community faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno. Dr. Mannering enjoys spending time with her two children, husband and dogs. They love to hike, bike, travel and fish as a family. Dr. Mannering is also an avid runner and can often be found running the trails and streets of Reno in the early mornings with her 520 running group.
