Dear NSDDS Members:
The spread of COVID-19 poses an unprecedented challenge for our generation. The Nevada Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery (NSDDS) recognizes that each practice is unique and must develop its own strategy to best manage its patients’ needs, those of its employees, as well as the well-being of the practice itself. NSDDS is here to support its membership during this challenging time.
Dermatologists undoubtedly provide essential services. Continuing to provide care for our patients mitigates the likelihood patients will seek care from the overburdened emergency healthcare system and the risk for poor outcomes such as metastatic disease or other morbid conditions. Additionally, cutaneous surgery is done under local anesthesia with no need for advanced PPE, operating rooms or ventilators.
Protecting the access of Nevada residents to dermatologic care in a rational and safe manner, without using resources needed by hospitals, is our highest priority for the health of those in our state. We understand that this is a rapidly evolving situation. Here’s the latest information from AAD.
